Track: 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 (3 out of 5, nice trail, diverse going through fields, along waterways and villages)
Milestone: 500 miles today, so we played the Proclaimers on trail once again 😁
Realisation of the day: after 33 days of hiking we get to the 2nd official camping…🤔😅
Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺⛺ (4 out of 5, on an actual camping with great showers!)
Name of followed trail: Trans Pennine trail
We wake up with ice on the tent. It’s been a cold night I guess..
We leave our campsite on a lovely trail to the cycle path we left yesterday. From there it’s a nice short walk before my watch tells me it’s time to celebrate our 500 mile point. We celebrate in style by playing the song ‘Im gonna be’ from the Proclaimers https://youtu.be/tbNlMtqrYS0?si=KsK6eDjs3hKzWtM0
Just another 3800 miles to go!
We have a sunny day of hiking north through the countryside. A lot is on roads, yet the scenery changes often enough to keep it interesting. There are also more narrow trails along a canal, and by walking the fields we get into some city-people-discussions about what we see, with questions like:”what do you think they are growing here?”
In my next life I’ll be a farmer, so I actually know what I’m looking at!
Mark gets hungry long before lunch time, so we have a break in a field, where we also dry out the tent.
After the break, we have 10 km to fantasize on what we want for lunch! We like the walk today, but we look forward to food even more. So when we get there, we are quite ready for a good lunch!
We walk into the Wheels Café (part of the old George Inn). It’s a cool, motorbike thèmes, café with good service and great food! We both had a burger, but everything that came out of the kitchen looked good!
After lunch, we continue the trail through the spring countryside, where so many things are starting to grow and bloom! I have a great time taking lots of pictures today!
We get into Snaith, where we resupply at the supermarket and bring some extra goodies to have at the campsite. After that it’s 3 more kilometer to Apple Blossom campsite. 33 days of hiking and only our 2nd official Camping. Happy we’ve been able to find so many good spots to free camp, but also looking forward to the option of having a hot shower!
So when we get to the campsite, we pitch and take a long good shower! Clean hikers tonight!
