Weather:🌤️🌥️🌤️🌥️☁️(perfect hiking weather)
Lunch: 🥪🥪🥪🥪🧁(5 out 5, good flammkuchen and a beautiful little cake as dessert!)
Track: 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 (4 out of 5, nice track through the forest and villages)
Hotel: 🛌🛌🛌 (3 out of 5, nice hotel)
Name of followed trail: Jakobs weg
Special mention: The thermal baths of Bad Breisig are 5 minutes walk from our hotel! 🛀🛀🛀🛀🛀
We woke up to the sound of birds, and still had time to snooze a bit. Really nice way to wake up in the forest.
After breakfast we continue our Jakobs weg trail to Remagen, where we have a very nice view over the town and the Rhein valley. The trail is well marked, but today my trusted GPX viewer appears to be wrong when we look at the markings. here, the ERA website route is correct….
Since I now have all the possible E8 trail options on either phone or watch, we manage to understand what’s happening.
We walk along the outskirts of Remagen back into the forest towards bad Bodendorf and from there across the Age river to Sinzig.
In Sinzig the main street doesn’t look very attractive, but we find a pretty (and good) french bakery there to have lunch. Their flammkuchen are good and the cake I had was as delicious as it looked pretty!
From Sinzig we hike upwards into the forest again, from where we walk into Bad Breisig, our destination of today.
We are half an hour early for our check in, which feels as perfect timing. After waiting a bit, our friendly and talkative host checks us in and shows us our room. Time to take a short shower and head to the Roman baths!!
We spend the rest of the afternoon and part of the evening in the Roman Thermen with its saunas and baths. Un-hikerly clean, we get out because we’re hungry by now 😅😁. One of our fellow sauna guests recommend the Indian restaurant here and she was right. The meal was delicious!
After our meal, we walk over the little festival they have this weekend in the park. It a nice festival with a lot of nice illuminated statues, foodtrucks and live music.
I get myself a dessert and we listen to the music until it’s time for us to go home and get some sleep.
On our way back I discover why we haven’t seen a single fountain yet to get some water from… someone placed them all here, in some kind of fountain collection/ gathering/ graveyard/… Strange place..
When we get home, we go to bed. Hiking and sauna made for a great day today, but sauna always makes me sleepyzzzz😴

Bij mijn weten is dit
https://www.longdistancepaths.eu/e8/en/
Nogmaals dank, Jolanda
