Day 72, Dannenfels – Pfeddesheim

Weather:☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ (🥵 getting used to it though..)
Picnic: 🥪🥪🥪🥪 (4 out 5, with bread and cheese from the supermarket, in the shade)
Track: 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 (4 out of 5, lovely trail through villages, vineyards and fields)
Hotel: 🛌🛌🛌🛌 (4 out of 5, nice room with good bed and good shower)
Name of followed trail: Vier Länden weg, yellow square 🟨
Special mention: Hermann, Manfred and Roman for having us in their paragliders camp and sharing their stories (and some drinks) with us around the campfire. Thank you for the great evening!

We get up early and pack our gear. We say goodbye to Manfred, who’s already awake, and go on our way.

We start the walk in the forest and into the village Bolanden. Here we find a farm shop where we get some strawberries and Schwarzwalder schinken. We eat the strawberries in the shade and take the ham with us.

We hike through the fields where we have wide views over the farmland, vineyards and villages in the Pfrimm valley. It’s warm in the open fields, but the small breeze makes it doable. It could also be that we’re getting used to it. Which would be even better, for this won’t be the last warm day we’ve hiked….

We walk into Albishheim where we have lunch under a tree next to the supermarket. A few villages further in Zellertal we find a vending machine that sells weinschorle (wine with sparkling water). We decide to give it a try. For us, the end verdict is: ‘medium’. Let’s call it a cultural experience 😅. I’ll stick to the fruit schorles though.

We continue through the fields and vineyards and get close to Pfeddesheim, today’s destination. I’m not saying anything about climate change, but the cows look different here…

We walk along the river Pfrimm and get into a forested area around the riverbanks. It’s a really pretty way to walk into town.

We find our hotel, which looks like it’s freshly decorated. First it’s time for a shower, than we can talk again 😅😅. For now, I feel so dirty that I don’t want to lie down in the bed… We shower, do our laundry and have a rest. After that we go for a resupply in the supermarket, and get us dinner there too. We have a cold plate with bread, ham, olives and spreads. It’s a delicious summer meal.

After that, time to relax and sleep in a nice bed!
