Day 75, Neuenkircher Höhe – Michelstadt

Weather:☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️🥵
Picnic: 🥪🥪🥪🥪 (4 out 5, nice bread from the bakery in Lindenfels, that we brought after our 2nd breakfast there 😁)
Track: 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 (4 out of 5, pretty trail through fields, villages and forest with great views. A bit of everything today)
Hotel: 🛌🛌🛌🛌 (4 out of 5, nice and spacious appartment, close to the city centre)
Name of followed trail: 3 different markings today, all by the Odenwaldklub.
Special mention: The Bienenmarkt in Michelstadt, the regions biggest spring festival.

In the middle of the night the wind starts to pick up. Quickly we unfold the rest of the outer tent and get back in. The wind force is not that much, but high up the hill in the tall trees, it makes for a restless night. I’m grateful that Mark checked our campspot for dead trees before we pitched.

The rain doesn’t come at all and the wind stops, so when we wake up, we pack away a dry tent. We walk down the hill towards Lindenfels, a pretty little town with a great bakery. We get a 2nd breakfast there and bring extras for lunch. The ladies in the shop are very friendly and are enthusiastic about our trip, as are some of the customers. Thank you for the friendly chats!

We continue through forest and fields, in the beautiful rolling hills of the Odenwald.

The continuing warm weather makes everything slow down (although I think life generally goes at a slower pace here, no matter what kind of weather).

We walk through Ober Mossau and pass a church where we hear a choir singing. It’s nice and calming to listen to.

On the contrary, the trail is quite demanding today, because rolling hills require walking up and back down again, sometimes quite steep too…😅😅😅

But: it’s a beautiful hike today and we enjoy it a lot.

When walk into Michelstadt around 16.30. We first get our breakfast for the next few days, because tomorrow it’s Sunday and that means that all the shops are closed.

We see signs for the Bienenfestival, the regions biggest spring festival. We heard about it from the lady at the cafe in Ostertal, where we had a drink earlier.

First we need a shower, and then we need some food, so we go to the festivalterrain. We have a walk around and get some food and drinks. Here we are, a few hours of the hill, 1900 km in our hike, walking on a spring fair.

Life is good ♥️
