After a rainy night, we pack up surprisingly dry. Unfortunately it starts to rain when we leave, so we start our day in raingear. We walk through the fields to Wall Hausen, where we have a good 2nd breakfast at the bakery. We also bring our lunch, because there aren’t many cafe’s around today. The sky looks threatening, but after the rainy start it stays dry the rest of the day.
We walk through the fields into the forest again and walk along the river Jagst. It’s a beautiful narrow trail that brings us to a lovely picnic spot at the site of an old water mill, next to a traditional covered bridge.
After a good picnic we continue to Neidenfels, where we have an unexpected break at a little honesty store with some soda’s.
From there, we go up the hill and I to the fields, towards Crailsheim. We have some long stretches today, but our guest stars are still going strong on their last day.
After 30 km we reach our end goal of today, our hotel in Crailsheim. Time for a real shower, some washing and some rest, before we go to dinner.
We have dinner in a good restaurant a short walk from the hotel and have a very good meal together. Rein boasts about the interior he helped design in the early seventies, and we toast to a great week together.
Mark gives Pepijn a souvenir to remember his first week of hiking. From Rein we get his fire steel and wooden spatula as parting gifts.
With rosy cheeks of fatigue we stroll back to the hotel and say goodnight.
