We woke up early to pack our gear explosion into the bags. We get ready for a hot day. Mark starts with his home made neck protection and I immediately use my umbrella. Time to put the THEOry of a wise man to the test. Thank you wise man 😉.

We go to the bakery to get some lunch for today. While planning our resupply, we sort of forgot that it’s Sunday today. Everything is closed, exept for some bakeries.. Whoops! We change the plan slightly, so we can do the resupply tomorrow.

I get a lot of smiles and frowning faces today with my umbrella. In general, it seems to make people (even the trees) happy. It’s already worth the effort we put into making the construction.

We go across the Donau and follow city trails close to the river through fields and villages. We cross the river Regen (German for rain), but this time only sunshine.

We take a break in the shade and at a gas station celebrate our 1500 miles today!

From there we walk to Walhalla. I didn’t know it was a hiking destination, but apparently so..🤔😅

We go up a hill (very hot) and get to a grand Greek style temple. And a coffee/lemonade stand. What would the true Walhalla be? We go for the version with the cool drinks and afterwards walk around the temple with its beautiful view over the Donau valley.

We continue into Hammersmühle, where we have a good Bavarian lunch. The wet sausage salad confuses us somewhat, but tastes delicious.

From there, we hike forest roads and fields, until we get to Ettersdorf and from there into Wiesent. We find a bistro there and continue our Bavarian food streak with good knödel and braised pork.

After dinner we fill up our water and go up the hill in search for a good campspot.

We find one almost at the top and pitch our tent. We hang our clothes to dry on the tent before we go to sleep.

We find that again we have a forest moped (bosbrommer) at our tent. This is Marks nickname for the European hornet, a docile yet large and loud wasp-like insect that we seem to find every evening around our tent. It’s always only one, and besides buzzing around and accidentally getting caught in our tent, it doesn’t do anything wrong.

Tonight we didn’t pitch in his flight zone like we did a few days ago. Now it’s more relaxed 😅😅
