Today we had a very enjoyable 21 kilometer walk!
We left our lovely appartment and climbed up the Ameisberg with it’s strange tower on top. In the other side we walked down again in a beautiful countryside landscape with hills full of fields and farmland. In the distance we see a village, we now know to be Altenfelden.
On our way there we enjoyed the scenery, even when it started to rain a bit. I tried my umbrella again, which was half successful. It’s a cheerful sight, it keeps my head dry and it has made people in a passing car smile. It also almost blew away, and wasn’t enough when the rain worsened. Nice try though 😁☂️
It dried up pretty quickly, so we got out of raingear again. Along the way we had a few brief breaks, eating the fruit that Nicole gave us yesterday. We waited with our lunch break until the supermarket in Altenfelden and we were right to do so, because the Laugenecken were really good!
From Altenfelden it was only a 3 km walk to Neufelden, mostly through the forest. And we were lucky with that, because all the rain that was expected today came down in these few kilometers.
Wet, we got to our appartment. We arrived at 14.30, so we had a lot of time to relax.
Because we’d already booked an hotel in Neufelden and later found out that it was relatively close by, we had a short walk today. Tomorrow we have a longer day ahead of us. We’re curious to see if the rest of Austria is as pretty!
