We’re a bit behind with posts, due to the busy yet fun days we’ve had 😁.

We have had an enjoyable day of hiking today! The weather is good and the landscape is so beautiful here!

We start with a hike along a river, followed by parts through the forest and through the countryside. The meadows are full off flowers, so there are bees and butterflies everywhere!

We walk through at Peter am Wimberg where we get a drink at the cafe, and some bread for lunch. We eat it in a meadow later, whilst enjoying the flowers and butterflies.

The trail undulates quite a lot, since the hills aren’t that high; there are just a lot of them 😅

We find a selfservice shop where we get some ice cream before we walk into Oberneukirchen.

In Oberneukirchen we go to the cafe and decide to have dinner here instead of cooking ourselves. After our meal a man on the other table asks us if we’re pilgrims. When we explain what we’re doing, he offers us a place to sleep, breakfast and an evening where we can watch the Austrian team in the World Cup. This sounds really good, so we accept his offer. He checks with his wife and half an hour later we are on our way with Franz to his home and his wife Martina.

We have an enjoyable evening together in which we not only watch the football game, but also talk about life, and find out similarities and differences between Austria and the Netherlands. Franz and Martina are both teachers, and we find out that school times and the whole system works quite differently.

It’s great to be able to learn about habits of the country we are in right now!

Great hospitality is apparently one of them! 😅♥️
