We leave our quiet campsite before 8.00. The weather is great for hiking, fresh and a little cloudy. We walk through the farmland and little villages, where we sometimes meet people and have a chat with them.
We enjoy the flowery meadows (again, but there is no such thing as too many flowery meadows 😁😁😁) and the patches of forest that we walk through.
When we get to our 2750 km point there isn’t much to work with, so my idea of making a marking with flowers and grass isn’t possible. So instead we use one of the trail markers and give it some extra information and decoration 😇.
We have a nice break in the sun that we use as a shoe repair break. Mine are slowly getting holes and Marks new shoes need some ‘remodeling’.
After that we continue our walk up a few smaller hills. The weather is looking a bit grim, so we have lunch before it starts to rain. Or at least we try. Halfway through our wraps it starts to rain. So we pack up again and continue. When it’s dry again we eat our last wrap, so no worries, we won’t go hungry 😁.
We walk through the village of Libenau and although I thought we’d find a café here, everything is closed. We get some water at the ranch outside of town and walk the last kilometers to our planned campspot.
We reach the spot around 16.00, which is quite early to set up our tent. We decide to walk on for a bit, so we have a shorter day tomorrow.
We walk another 3 km and see some houses. We try the last house for some extra water, but find out after we drank a liter of our water that the tap is closed off… We walk on a bit more and ring at the next house to refill our bottle. Unexpectedly the door opens and a friendly man gets our bottle filled and offers us some food aswell. We first say no, and we get offered a place to pitch our tent.
We end up staying in the home of Richard, Ramona and their 7 year old daughter Rosalie. We enjoy a fresh veggie meal, a salad from their own garden, and Rosalie shows me where to pick berries in the garden, so I can use this knowledge along the way! She also shows me their Bhrama chickens, which are hard to miss, because they are huge!
And very sweet, fluffy and warm, I discover when I get one on my lap 🥰.
We have a lovely evening together, enjoying the company, nature and the positive vibe this place has.
