Zeroday 21, Trenčín

Despite the warm, sticky night we sleep well. We hang the laundry that has cleaned itself during the night (we appreciate washing machines very much by now!) and go out for breakfast. Slovakia is our favorite coffee nation sofar, and Trenčin is living up to the expectations. We enjoy our coffee and Turkish eggs at café Paddock. After that Mark gets a haircut while I work on our resupply plan. It’s easier to plan this section, because there aren’t many options for eating along the way. We’ll be carrying food for 5 days in our backpacks, for the first time this trip. It won’t be the last though… More mountain sections are coming.

After Mark comes back, we book an extra night in Trenčín, so we can start our next section well rested.

Our bodies have done a great job sofar, so we’d better keep them in good condition!

We go to the shopping centre for our resupply and also visit the hunting store to get bear spray. There are bears in Slovakia and although Slovakian hikers

seem unconcerned about them, we want to take the right precautions. Bear spray is one of them, as is our bear bell. Keeping food and toiletries in airtight bags is another.

At the store I also get Slovakian socks as a souvenir 🇸🇰🙂.

After our trip to the supermarket we return home with large bags full of food.

At home it’s time to relax, repair and repack. My shoes I bought in Germany have done their job for more than 1300 km and are now finished. Time to wear the exact same shoes but then new 😁. My 4th pair of shoes 😅.

One of my gaiters has a hole in it, so I use Marks old t-shirt to mend it. Satisfied with the result!

With the extra zeroday tomorrow, there is also time to read a book after reorganizing our gear explosion. Happy times!

  1. Dag toppers!

  2. It’s amazing to see how far you have travelled. You may remember meeting us on a trail in the UK near Doncaster. Me, my husband and our crazy dogs 🐶x

    • Hey Andrea!
Cool to see your still following our adventures! Since we still meet people with dogs, the meeting with you and your crazy dogs sometimes comes up when we see an overenthusiastic dog 😅😂. Did you try replacing the fuse on it as Mark suggested?😜
