Zeroday 22, Trenčín

Another day of sleeping in! I like sleeping in 😁. We slowly get up, pack our bags, and have breakfast. Just before 10 we leave our apartment and head to our new hotel. We leave our bags there and go for a walk around the city castle, which has great views over the city. It also has an interesting exhibit about the Ottoman invasion in the 16th century, and a kind museum guide gives me an English audio tour so I can understand what the exhibition is about. Everyone in Slovakia is very friendly and willing to make communication work.

On our way out we see an entertaining demonstration of mideval sword techniques. Luckily, the only thing that gets hurt is a water bottle 😅😂.

From the castle we walk into town to get some lunch. Since medival times things have become more civilized it seems. You can now have coffee at the house of the executioner…😅🤨

We enjoyed a good lunch and then an ice cream. It’s a really hot day today, so we’re not sorry we decided to have an extra zeroday!

It helps that Trenčín is a nice city to be visiting.

We use our European coffee trip app (it really exists..😅) to find another good café and Mark has one of the best expresso’s of the trip at Coffee lab coffee roastery. The owner is a nice man and comes for a chat at our table. He really likes our story and has all kinds of tips om where to go hiking in the area. When we leave we get a discount and Mark gets a coffee for the road. What a great gesture!

We can check in to our hotel and we have a very nice room, with airco. We hope that makes our night of sleep a bit better.

We relax in our room, and only go out for dinner. We go to the local brewery and have a good beer and meal. After that, it’s time to go to bed.

A very well spent extra zeroday!
