Day 143, Telgart – Chata Gápel

Weather: 🌤️🌤️🌤️🌤️🌤️
Picnic: 🥪🥪🥪🥪 (4 out 5, wraps with cheese and chicken at a picnic bench)
Track: 🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰 (3 out of 5, Nice track through the forest, with some nice views)
Track intensity: 😯😯😯, really doable for all three of us!)
Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺⛺ (4 out of 5, lovely place next to a hut with a swing bench and a campfire pit!)
Name of followed trail: SNP trail

We get up in time, so we can do a resupply. Happy that the supermarket is open on Sunday here!

We have to make do with what we find there, so we’re extra happy with the supplies that Rein brought with him, like milk powder and Brinta (porridge). We repack everything to hiker size and go on our way.

We first visit Telgarts local highlights, like the train viaduct and the spring of the Hron river. At the train viaduct we have a coffee and Kofola. In the time that we are there, there’s also a train going over the viaduct; good timing!

We have a nice hike along a good track through the forest, with some beautiful views.

There is a bear warning sign, but with our bear bells and bear spray, we are prepared. The bears must have known, because we didn’t see any this far (and we’d like to keep it that way).

We did see a huge cricket on our lunch break at a nice picnic spot where we had a break.

After that its only a few kilometers more to our destination today, chata Gápel. This hut is closed, but there is a spring, a swing bench, a little lake and a good shelter to sit under. We don’t need more, so we’re very happy. Especially with the campfire hut, where we can have a small fire, without risking a forest fire..😅

We sing some songs together and go to sleep after a good day of hiking. We found a mode together where all three of us can enjoy the trail!

Before I go to sleep, I play around with my camera for some starry night pictures. What a beautiful sight!
