We leave the campsite and hike down the hill through the forest. From there we go quite steep up on a rough 4×4 track, which takes us quite a long time. We have lunch when we are almost out
of the forest, on a shaded spot. We use the honey we got as a gift from our hotel, on our wraps. It’s almost a shame to eat it like this, because it’s delicious honey.
From our lunchspot we get out of the forest. Our climb is rewarded with great views. From here we will walk the Ridgeline of the hills. Amazing autumn colours are starting to appear everywhere. The season is really starting to turn once again. Our 3rd season on trail is starting to show!
After the first mountain to the 4×4 track abruptly stops and becomes a narrow trail on a rocky ridgeline.
It’s exposed, but the weather is good, so we go across. Mark needs to help me with a few steps, but its mostly doable. We follow the ridge until the point where we can take a lower route to the hut, because there is wind and rain coming in, and we don’t want to be surprised at the top.
We get to the hut in good time, and the spring next to the hut is flowing well. I’m really pleased with that, because on our way here, we saw quite a few dry springs!
The hut is basic and there are full garbage bags in the corner, but it’s an ok place to be. With the bad weather that’s predicted for tonight, we stay inside rather than pitch our tent. We make ourselves at home here and make dinner. When I go out to get water, the views are really good. I smile at the routine we have, where water comes from a spring and my bed can be anywhere I lay my mattress down. What a life we are living!
