Name of followed trail: ‘chickenrun’ day 4 of 5
Today we had a long day of 36 kilometers of roadwalking. The reward for this is a great appartment, and a very short day (13 km) tomorrow.
We say goodbye to our hosts and thank them after a good breakfast, and get into the van with 2 of the firefighters. They bring us to the starting point of today, near Suseni. We wave them goodbye, before we start our walk.
The road is ok to walk along. Sometimes cars or trucks pass by a bit close, but mostly the traffic is more or less considerate in their driving.
We see a lot of wooden gates, specific to this region, the Székely land. The tradition of making these gates goes back more than 300 years. We saw some pretty amazing ones today, some even waving the Székely flag in blue and white.
We had planned to hike to Sub Cetate, but couldn’t find a place to stay. Therefore we continue to Zetea, where we have a beautiful appartment, directly above the supermarket. A hikers dream come true!
We cook dinner, for the first time since breaking trail. It feels good to make my own meal again!
We relax and take a nice long shower, before we go to sleep.
