Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺⛺⛺ (5 out of 5, lovely campsite at Octavia and Lugi, with good food and a shower)
Name of followed trail: Via Transilvanica
We have a great breakfast at the Boutique Hotel and leave around 9.00. We start with a little your through Blaj, passing the market and the memorial square. Blaj has played an important role in the unification of Romania, which is commemorated on Liberty square.
Outside of Blaj, we hike through the fields in the hills. We can see very far and today’s trail gives a real sense of progress because of it. Note to self: since we ended up hiking 35 km today, so it actually is progress 😅…
We enjoy the views, even though at some point one can have seen enough fields for a day. We have lunch at an old church and pass through the villages of Secasel and Berghin. In Berghin we get some cold drinks, because it’s a warm day again.
From Berghin we go up the hills one more time and walk the final kilometers towards Straks and into Hapria.
In Hapria we receive a warm welcome from Octavia and Lugi (and their 2 cute donkeys) who let VT hikers camp in their garden and offer meals too!
We enjoy our evening with them and we find out that we have a lot in common. Way past hikers bed time, we go to our tent for a good night of sleep.
