After a cold night (and not looking forward to get out of the sleeping bag) we start hiking around 8.00. It takes the both of us quite long to warm up. Today is the first day that the weather doesn’t warm up during the day. So at lunch I trade the shorts for longs…
The hike today is short (26 km). We walk through the forest on a seemingly endless road. First ascending, then descending towards the Dacian temple complex of Sarmizegetusa Regia. This complex is also on E8, since the trails het together here for a short while. I’ve looked at this part of the map a lot, so I’m quite curious what it looks like in real life. Unfortunately it is temporarily closed, so I guess it’ll have to remain a mystery…😅
We have lunch and I find out that we’re getting into a temperature range that is not working really well for the consistency of my Nutella. Or at least not if I want to put it on my wrap with my spoon…🥶
We don’t see any people or houses , so Henk continues to walk along. And although I hope that he will find a place to stay, when we do pass a few houses he refuses to stay there, again and walks with us to our campsite.
We walk past a restaurant, that unfortunately has no space due to a conference, and continue the last few kilometers to Dacrust house. It’s a steep track up the hill before we get there. It’s a nice field with a small house and a stable. The owner is t here, but allows VT-hikers to camp on his terrain.
We get there around 15.00, so we have plenty of time to rest and enjoy this place. After pitching our tent it starts to drizzle, so we move to the roofed terrace where we stay until after dinner.
Then it’s time to get to our tent for a good night of sleep.
