We wake up and pack our bags, while we listen to the sound of breakfast being made. We enjoy a lovely breakfast with Fritz and Rosi, and after that (and some sheep running away with Fritz out to catch it) it’s time to say goodbye.

It’s the start of another wonderful day of hiking. On our way we think about the incredible hospitality we’ve enjoyed here. So happy and grateful that we’re able to truly connect with the people that cross our path.

The walk is great and starts easy today. We walk along a river through the forest. On our way we find a cellar with sodas and an honesty box. Great, because we got thirsty along the way! We have lunch under a cherry tree and enjoy the great views. We continue and walk into Kefermarkt where we get ourselves a small resupply and a cool drink. In Kefermarkt we also visit the church where they have a very skilfully made wooden wing altar.

In the church we take time to light a candle. A candle for friends, family and colleagues who are going through a hard time. People whom we care for, but can’t be there for the way we’d like to. For us that’s the biggest cost of thru hiking. Not being able to really be there for the people that we love.

So we think of them and light a candle, sending our love and positivity.

We leave the church and Kefermarkt behind and start our walk up the hills that are coming next. At the castle we hear people greet us; Rosi and Fritz took their visiting friends to the castle, so we meet again 😄. We still have about 9 km to go, so we walk on.

We climb the Buchberg, with its nice viewpoint and tower, and after a short descend we go up the Braunberg, to the Braunberghuette. Luckily the signs that said 2 hrs 45 mins to the hut were wrong, and we arrive at the hut around 18.00. This leaves plenty of time for a sandwich and a cold drink!

From here we walk the last 3 km to our campspot. After a little search, we find a nice flat-ish spot with beautiful views over the hills while the sun sets.

We make our noodle meal and after a cup of coffee we get into the tent and fairly quickly go to sleep after a long (33 km, 980m elevation) and beautiful day.
