Day 117, Ernstbrunn – Manhartsbrunn

Weather: ☀️🌤️⛅⛅⛅
Picnic: 🥪🥪🥪 (3 out 5, nice bread in the shade)
Track: 🇦🇹🇦🇹🇦🇹 (3 out of 5, nice farm tracks through the sunflower fields and forest.)
Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺ (3 out of 5, flat spot in the forest)
Name of followed trail: Grenzlandweg (07)

We enjoyed a very nice breakfast before we set out again.

The hike isn’t very interesting today. A lot of roads to follow. The view over the fields are still nice though, and Komoot miscalculated, because my watch says our suggested campsite is only 27 km instead of 30. We walk through Großrußbach where we find a supermarket. We get some drinks and bread to take with us. The lady at the store asks us where we’re from. When we say ‘the Netherlands’ she replies with:” ah, the mini playbackshow!” Apparently this ’80’s television show for kids has been broadcasted here too and she had always wanted to join. Like me, she loved the fact that kids magically appeared out of smoke in cool costumes. Of all the things you know of a country …😂

We continue our hike, now in the forest. From here the trail becomes a lot nicer, although there is still quite a lot of busier roads that we need to walk.

We walk through the most beautiful flower village in the world in 2005 (according to the sign). On the village square there are plaques to show the awards that have been won since. We’re happy to fill up water here and get back into the forest until the village of Manhartsbrunn. We get a glass of soda here and fill up our water for the night.

From the village it’s another 2 km to our campsite. In the last few kilometers we door the skyline of Vienna. What a cool sight! Tomorrow we walk into Vienna! That feels like a real milestone!

At our campsite we have a relaxed evening, before we turn in.
