Happy moment of the day: Mark has new shoes!
Sad moment of the day: my camera is still broken.
Milestone: first E8 sign!
Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺⛺ (4 out of 5, sheltered, flat and in the forest, with good views)
Campfire:🔥 (1 out of 5, still in the making 😅!)
Name of followed trail: Blackwater way
Special thanks to: the lady in the outdoor shop and the lady at Hanna’s cafe, who were both really helpful and enthusiastic about our story!
We get up at 7 and pack our bags, time to get back in trail! But first get some replacement or repairs done! We take the bus into the city and get to the outdoor shop and camera shop at the start of opening time. The man in the camera shop cant do much and is out of cleaning kits, so I can’t try and clean the shutter (because that is what is stuck) and try to open it myself. He gives me an option outside of Cork, but they say on the phone they are willing to have a look, but probably have to send it to Olympus. No real hope for now. I’m really sad that it didn’t work, but there is nothing to be done really. I can only try and find a repair shop in Dublin, or buy a new ine, also in Dublin. That will take us 2 more weeks though!
Frustrated and sad I check on Mark. He sits at the outdoor shop like a happy bunny, because he found shoes that fit really nicely! I guess we need shoes more than a camera. I think. 🙁
We get back to Rein at the hotel and in the bus I resign to the fact that it’ll take a few weeks before I can take proper pictures again. My phone will have to do.
we get into the bus to Fermoy and have a good lunch before we get on trail. We have a nice walk to Kilworth, and have to mention some trail appreciation about the way the Blackwater way handels it’s hikers on busy roads. Warning signs, pavement where we can walk. Thank you Blackwater way!
In Kilworth we fill our waterbags and continue into the forest. A great trail, in the best weather we had so far follows. We even spot our first E8 sign! Now we found a nice mossy spot as t the end of the forest, and Mark and Rein are busy collecting wood for a fire tonight.
