Track: 🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰(3 out of 5, nice forest trail into the Slovakian hills)
Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺ (3 out of 5, flat spot in the forest)
Name of followed trail: SNP trail (heroes of the Slovak national uprising)
We leave the hut after breakfast in good hiking weather. We hike 15 km on a nice, undulating trail through the forest to Baba. On our way we spot a few springs that are barely running. Hopefully this won’t become an issue later on, because we’ll have to rely more and more on these natural water sources along the way.
On the way, Mark uses the melody of Jungle books ‘Bear necessities’ to compose songs about food.
At Baba, the trail crosses a road and we get lunch at the restaurant here. We work on our knowledge of Slovak cuisine and eat lentil soup and langs bread, and drink Kofola, the local soft drink. We also spot some deer while we sit at the restaurant.
From Baba, we continue another 7 km to a campsite with a spring, that runs really well. We take a good break and drink water before we leave again for the last 5 km. The campsite looks nice and is being used by 2 groups of young people, but we want to hike a bit further. We find another spring and start to recognize them by the little roofs that are build over the springs.
We find a nice campsite in the forest and make oye dinner. We slot a flock of deer here too. Really cool to watch!
