Day 140, Chata Stefanika – Útulna Ramza

Weather: 🌤️🌤️☀️🌤️☀️
Lunch: 🥪🥪🥪🥪 (4 out 5, good burger/ pulled pork dumpling at the restaurant on the Certovica pass)
Track: 🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰🇸🇰 (4 out of 5, Nice track on the ridgeline down to the pass and a narrow winding trail up to the hut, great views, blueberry bushes and forest along the way.)
Track intensity: 😯😯😯 (😯😯)(3 out of 5, but Rein thought differently 😅!)
Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺⛺ (4 out of 5, lovely place next to a hut and a campfire pit!)
Name of followed trail: SNP trail

In the hut we have a good breakfast and admire the wall with stories of how people bring the supplies to the hut on their backs. There is even a Sherpa competition, and a list of who brought the most supplies up the mountain.

Outside we find another SNP memorial, reminding us of how hard it must have been for the Partisans and Sovjet army to fight in these mountains to free the country.

We start our hike on a ridgeline that slowly goes into the forest through fields of blueberries, wildflowers and heather. In the forest it gets quite steep and Rein slides down while doing a roly poly. Result is a nice ‘war trophy’s (or: gravel rash, as our frien Al likes to call it). After tending to it, he’s good to go again and almost immediately he gets to tell someone on trail that it is because he wrestled with a bear 😂.

We get down the trail safely and at the pass we have lunch and Kofola’s at the restaurant, a good burger and pulled pork bread dumpling. We also meet some other hikers here.

From there it’s an easy going trail up the hill again to the hut. Ramza is a nice hut with a firepit and place for tents.

We meet Maja and Nikola here again, whom we already met at Durkova. These 2 young ladies are hiking to Telgart on the SNP trail. We also meet a father and son here. We sit together by the campfire, which is nice, because it cools down a lot in the mountain. Rein surprised us all by pulling a bottle of wine out of his bag, to celebrate our halfway point 😍🎉! Crazy man, dragging it over the hills…😂.

After a great evening, we go to our tents and enjoy a good night of sleep on our own mattresses.
