Because of our different timezone, it’s still dark when we get up at 6.00 and when we leave our hotel at 8.00 after breakfast, we have maximum daylight left. Quite convenient, these timezones!
We have a long and not very interesting day ahead. A lot of road walking and farm tracks. There are more tracks in reality than on the map, and sometimes the track on the map isn’t there in reality… This is a bit confusing, but we manage to navigate our way through it without adding to many kilometers to an already long day.
We’re grateful for the 3 villages along the way, especially because of the ‘A doi Pasi’ shops; small convenience stores where we get some drinks to cool down on this warm day.
After another detour because of a missing track, we arrive at our 4000 km point! Nothing there but dusty road, so that’s what we use to mark this point. Incredible to think of our 1000 km point in the Netherlands, 2000 km in Germany and 3000 km in Austria. The next one will also be in Romania. Curious what kind of adventures the coming 1000 km will bring!
For now, it brings us to Baba Novac, where we get water from a friendly lady and to our surprise, also find an A doi Pasi! So we celebrate our 4000 km with a Radler and an ice cream. We enjoy these in the shade outside of the shop. where a few men are having a beer. One of them speaks a bit of German, so we tell him what we are doing. When we leave again, he shakes our hands and wishes us luck.
From here we walk our final 6 kilometers to our campsite, a nice flat spot in the forest, where we make dinner and watch a beautiful sunset.
