We wake up in time and pack our gear. After I get back from brushing my teeth, Mark is in the middle of a conversation with the father in law of the hotel owner. We sit down with him and get a coffee before we go. What a nice gesture!
We start with a track through some fields and a park, and then go into the forest. At least that’s the plan. Unfortunately my own route proves unreliable once again. The trail we are supposed to take is overgrown and has become invisible. We decide to make a detour instead of bushwhacking. This means a lot of roadwalking again.
The advantage is that we find some shops along the way to get lunch and a drink. We have our 2nd breakfast/ early lunch in the shade, where a dog tries to befriend us. He clearly doesn’t know about hikers and their possessiveness of food…
We continue along the main road, sometimes on a very narrow roadside. We’re quite happy when we can get to a less busy road!
It seems like the whole region is getting repaved here. A lot of new buildings next to old ones here too. This city is clearly growing.
After an unsuccessful search for gas canisters, we get to our appartment. It’s a beautiful place, with plenty of space and good amenities.
We take a shower and start our digital tasks, like planning and searching for information on weather, and some online shopping. We go for dinner at Saffiya, a good Turkish restaurant, close to our apartment. Our friendly waiter Ismaël gets us some treats from the house after he hears of our hike to Istanbul. Happy and full, we leave the restaurant. Time to test the bed!
