Day 176, Tulghes – Ditrau

Weather: ☁️🌧️🌥️🌧️🌥️
Lunch: 🥪🥪🥪 (3 out 5, bread with ham and cream on the side of the road)
Track: 🇷🇴 (1 out of 5, most functional way to walk for us, but boring never the less..😅)
Hotel: 🛏️🛏️🛏️🛏️ (4 out of 5, nice room, good food and a hot tub!)
Name of followed trail: ‘chickenrun’ day 2 of 5, Road D127

After an impressive breakfast, that in our own country would have done well as a beer snack, we start our walk along the D127.

Today wasn’t the most interesting day of hiking. 34 kilometers of roadwalk in the same road, across a pass to Ditrau. Necessary though, to get to our destination of Odurheiu Secuiesc in a few days.

We enjoy the small things on the road. The views and the people that offer us a lift, or stop to chat.

At the top, the tarmac is exchanged for gravel, yet this doesn’t seem to bother any of the cars and trucks on the road.

After a few kilometers, it’s tarmac again and we continue into Ditrau. Here we find our Pension, across the road from a house that has some huge models of churches and a palace in it’s garden.

We are welcomed by our hosts and enjoy a bit of rest before dinner. At dinner we meet our fellow guests, a group of Hungarian firefighters. Csantos is one of them and he speaks German. He is an enthusiastic translator for everyone!

It becomes an enjoyable evening, with a great communal meal and some Palinka. We get invited to join the firefighters in the hottub. Ofcourse we can’t say no to that! We enjoy incredible hospitality, as they offer us to stay another night and to pick us up at our finish of tomorrow. Since we’re still looking for a place to stay, we agree on this.

Grateful for all the opportunities and kindness we receive, we go to bed.
