Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺ (3 out of 5, flat spot with beautiful views, well guarded by the 6(!) sheepdogs that herd their sheep here…😅)
Name of followed trail: Via Transilvanica
After a lovely breakfast, we leave Nemsa and go up the hill outside the village. We hike through the fields, which gets us into some dog encounters. By now we got used to them, and although they bark, growl and look dangerous, we’ve never been attacked. Still happy with the precautions we took though…😅
We walk through a few villages and into a forest, on our way to Medias. The landscape and the weather are great again. We are both really enjoying the Via Transilvanica.
When we get out of the forest, we see a tent. 3 young men are camping here, with a beautiful view over Medias. We have a nice chat with them, about our hike and our gear. One of them is really curious about our trip and gear. It was nice chatting with you guys!
In Medias we go for lunch and coffee. Medias is a nice town. We like the buildings and the atmosphere.
From Medias it’s another 13 km to our destination for tonight, a meadow close to Bazna to pitch our tent. We find a beautiful spot there. Just when we’ve pitched our tent, a pack of shepherd dogs come our barking our way. A little later we see a herd of sheep (and a donkey leading them) too….😅
We end up making our dinner with the anti-dog pepperspray close at hand, just in case. We needn’t worry. The dogs are curious, but seem friendly enough. After a while, we are accepted as ‘being there’s and The move away. The shepherd has also seen us and stays at his own ‘camp’ a few 100 meters away from our tent. We are well guarded tonight!
