Weather:☁️⛅☁️🌤️🌤️
Lunch: 🥪🥪🥪 (3 out 5, good lunch at the bakery in Collenberg)
Track: 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 (3 out of 5, nice undulating trail through the forest, fields and villages)
Milestone: 2000km!
Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺ (3 out of 5, flat, grassy spot next to the Main on a camping)
Name of followed trail: Red diagonal and Marienweg
Special mention: Rein and Pepijn come to join us for a week, and thanks to Annemieke and Joost, they bring new shoes for Mark and other needed gear. Thanks everyone for all the logistic aid!
After a dry and quiet night we get up and continue on our trail, leaving nothing but a dry piece of ground.
We follow a lot overgrown trails to get to Collenberg 15 km further. This is quite a job and we’re happy to get to the village. We walk a while along the Main, before we get to the shops in the centre of the village.
We first go for the bakery, because we’re kind of hungry after this challenging trail. After that, we go for a resupply at the Netto supermarket, to get food for the next few days.
We pack it all in the bags and go out of the village. Here, we follow a way of the cross again, up the hill. We go back into the forest and walk towards Dorfprozelten, the next village we go through. And back up again through the vineyards into the forest. We walk past a cheerful stone that summarizes life as something where you’re born, get married and die. We checkt our position in life and seem to have plenty of time left for fun things, according to the stone..
We walk through a small village and the descend towards Stadtprozelten. On our way we come past a 3d archery trail. There are statues of animals around the trail that you can shoot at. It looks a bit weird, these statues in the forest…
Shortly after that my watch announces a new milestone: 2000 km! We mark the moment with food this time, since food is an important thing these days.
We continue past the castle on the hill and go down into the village. There we go to the campsite, where we pitch our tent and wait for our famous co-star who joins us for a second time. And thus he gets a new introduction:
Some say he designed Germany in the seventies, and others say he dreams in coordinates. All we know he is called Rein!
This time Rein had brought his nephew Pepijn, and a lot of goodies from our bounce box (thanks Annemieke for sending it to Rein)!
They are the barers of new shoes, a t-shirt and many more things we needed to restock.
Rein also brings a surprise meal of macaroni, vegetables and cheese! We enjoy our meal together and make a toast to another week of hiking with friends.
