Day 99, Lalling – Saldenburg

Weather: ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️+ 🥵 🥵
Picnic: 🥪🥪🥪 (3 out 5, bread from the bakery in Lalling)
Track: 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪 (3 out of 5, trail through fields, forest and villages. Quite some roadwalking but with beautiful views)
Campsite: ⛺⛺⛺ (3 out of 5, flat spot in the forest, close to a lake)
Name of followed trail: Main Donau weg

This morning we did a lot better job at getting an early start! We left at 7.30 and we’re 9 km further at the Brotjackriegel, the highest point of today, after 2,5 hours!

At the top, there is a surprise cafe (again, I love these kind of surprised) and after a cold schorle, we start on our way down the hill.

After a few rough downhill parts, we get to a more gentle, mostly paved path through villages downhill. Pretty views and nice villages, but searing hot on the roads…

We find a café twice, and drink well before leaving there again. Schorles for the win! The last cafe was actually closed, but the lady couldn’t turn 2 thirsty hikers away. Very grateful for this wonderful gesture ♥️.

We finish our day at a lake near Saldenburg and take a refreshing dive in the water. That’s so great after a hot day of hiking!

After we airdryed, we decide to walk a bit further from the lake to find a quiet spot to pitch. We wait for the heat to subside a bit while having dinner and later enjoy watching the fireflies around our tent.
