Definiton of a picnic / a word of thanks

To be honest; ever since we started this hike we have been having the discussion about the definition of a picnic.

For now we have come to the conclusion that living outdoors for a year might be the worst starting point for having one!

After all; a picnic is a lunch/brunch you have outdoors while sat in a park on a blanket with food you have prepared and/or taken from home.

Surely the wraps we drag up and down hills don’t make for a picnic; these are just boring calories.

Find a coffee shop? Doesn’t count.

Lunch we just got at the supermarket? We’ll have that straight away; we’re not going to add the extra weight to our packs.

So far we come to the conclusion: “You need a home to start from to make it a picnic!”

That being said; by now we had many examples where we found snacks, drinks or lunch along the way! For us these surprises are like a picnic; a fun way of eating whilst enjoying the outdoors.

We would like to take this opportuniy to say thank you to all the people who seem to agree with us that wraps are boring; we even got a few snack donations of people we have never met!

So whether you are a colleague, long time friend, someone we met along the trail or someone who just likes our stories; while we might stuggle with the definiton of a picnic while on trail: know that you enable joyfull snack stops!
