Zeroday 1, Baile Bhuirne

After a great long sleep we wake up to the scent of freshly baked bread. This makes it hard to stay in bed for too long 😅!

We get up and first reorganize the room a bit, and then go for breakfast.

after breakfast more reorganizing and repairing needs to be done. Our tent has suffered from the wind (well actually from me holding a tentpeg wanting to get the tent down quickly because of the wind…🫣😅 My backpack had a loose seem and Marks raincover doesn’t do well with barbed wire. So we both did some sewing and the gear is fixed!

Around noon we get a lift from Mary, who is now taking the 2 hiking idiots ariund town. She’s a great person and very sweet too, as she drops us off nearly in the shops, refusing to let us walk any more than necessary! She also patiently waits until we return from our resupply and shakes her head seeing the box full of food. ‘You need to carry all of that around?’ And yes we do unfortunately. Back at the hotel Mark rearranges the food while I make us lunch and start catching up on the blog posts. It’s been a crazy week, with little time to write and even less internet to actually post!

Now I’ve caught up, and am starting to get the hang of blogging at our own website. It definitely has advantages though, because we can easily give the site to others, and we get responses from people we haven’t met. It’s great to see so many of you reading along with our journey! Thanks for all the replies, know they are appreciated!

We both feel happy with the early zero day we’ve booked here. And kiddos to the staf who went out of their way to make it a true day of no walking, thank you Joe, Mary and all your friendly colleagues!

Tomorrow we’ll head to Millstreet, and hopefully the day after, Rein can join us for a few days of hiking!
